From concept to cleanroom, without the wait

Need to get up and running quickly? Softwall cleanrooms can be installed in hours—not days or weeks—and reconfigured just as fast. Flexible curtain systems and modular aluminum framing make it easy to adapt to shifting operations, whether you’re scaling up or shifting product lines.

HEPA or ULPA filter integration, optional HVAC compatibility, and custom size configurations allow you to strike the perfect balance between performance and cost. At Encompass Cleanrooms, we design and construct modular softwall cleanrooms for a variety of industry applications, including medical device manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and more.

Versatile by design, popular by demand

Softwall cleanrooms strike a powerful balance between affordability, adaptability, and functionality. They’re an excellent choice when full-scale hardwall or rigidwall cleanrooms are more than you need—but compliance, cleanliness, and uptime still matter.

Unmatched flexibility

Freestanding or suspended from your existing structure. Lightweight materials and compact design allow them to fit into tight spaces and make them easy to relocate or expand as needs change.

Rapid installation

Engineered for fast deployment using minimal tools. Our expert installation team can assemble and commission your cleanroom with precision—no downtime, no disruption.

Cost-effective

Built with high-quality materials and engineered for compliance. You’ll get powerful contamination control without the cost and complexity of rigid cleanroom systems.

Softwall cleanrooms as custom as your process

Your specs, our expertise. Every softwall cleanroom can be customized—from size and configuration to door type, filter integration, and lighting, based on your specific requirements.

  • Sizing: Standard sizing in 2’ x 4’ increments, with custom builds available to fit any space or workflow.
  • Framing & Finish: Extruded aluminum frame made to last, available in white powder-baked enamel or clear anodized finish.
  • Curtains: Choose from anti-static PVC, conductive PVC, polycarbonate, or polyethylene. Available in clear, frosted, or colored versions for UV and light wavelength control.
  • Entrances: Options include overlapping strips, sliding doors, or hinged panels.
  • Ceiling Systems: Integrated fan filter units (FFUs), cleanroom lighting, and ceiling tiles built to your specs.

Expert guidance for softwall solutions

What ISO classifications can a softwall cleanroom support?

Softwall cleanrooms are well-suited for ISO Class 7 and ISO Class 8 environments. These classifications cover a wide range of processes in medical device manufacturing, pharmaceutical packaging, electronics assembly, and general manufacturing (where contamination control matters but highly stringent particle counts aren't required).

If your specific needs call for ISO Class 6 or stricter, a hardwall or rigidwall system will be a better fit, since those wall systems support the HVAC integration, pressurization, and filtration intensity that tighter classifications require.

Not sure which classification your process needs? That's the right question to start with, and it's one we work through with every prospective customer before any design decisions are made.

Is a softwall cleanroom a permanent solution, or a stepping stone to something more robust?

Either, depending on your situation. Many facilities run softwall cleanrooms as permanent, long-term controlled environments because they're fully capable of meeting ISO Class 6–8 requirements for the life of a product line. Others use them as a practical starting point while validating a new process or standing up production quickly, then evaluate whether a hardwall system makes sense as volume scales.

Because softwall systems are modular and fully relocatable, you're not locked in either direction. If your requirements change, your cleanroom can change with them without writing off your original investment.

What are the real tradeoffs between softwall and hardwall cleanrooms?

Softwall cleanrooms offer faster installation, lower upfront cost, and greater flexibility for reconfiguration or relocation. Hardwall systems provide greater structural durability, more precise environmental control, and the ability to support stricter ISO classifications with full HVAC integration.

The tradeoff here isn't about quality. Both can be engineered to perform reliably within their respective classification ranges. Instead, it's about matching the system to what your process actually requires. A softwall cleanroom built to ISO Class 7 that meets your regulatory requirements is a better decision than a hardwall cleanroom built to ISO Class 5 that you don't need. We help you make that call before design begins.

How quickly can a softwall cleanroom be operational?

Softwall cleanrooms are the fastest cleanroom option to deploy. Depending on size and configuration, installation can be completed in a matter of hours to a few days. Components arrive pre-engineered and ready to assemble, which means minimal on-site labor and virtually no disruption to your surrounding operations.

For facilities under time pressure (new contract, regulatory deadline, production expansion, etc.), softwall is often the most practical path to a certified, operational controlled environment in the shortest window.

Can a softwall cleanroom be installed within my existing facility?

Yes. Softwall systems can be installed freestanding or suspended from your existing building structure, and they're designed to work within the constraints of your current space.

Standard configurations are built in 2' x 4' increments, with custom sizes available for non-standard layouts. Because the framing is lightweight aluminum and the curtain panels require no permanent attachment to walls or ceilings, installation doesn't require structural modifications in most cases.

If you have ceiling height, utility access, or space configuration questions specific to your facility, we address those during the design phase before anything is ordered.
